The updated iMessage app will be available with iOS 10. And, according to Tim Cook at Apple’s big event this week, it’s the biggest update to the operating system, ever. But if you’re already running the iOS 10 GM build, then you can launch the Messages app and hop straight into the Messages App Store and see for yourself what’s on offer. Along with the new iPhones, iOS 10 will also be able to run on eight earlier versions of iPhone (all the way down to iPhone 5) and on eight versions of iPad.
Apple is hoping iOS 10 will mark Siri’s transition from a novelty to a seriously useful tool.
In the coming weeks, the company will start shipping the final versions to customers worldwide. Reportedly, the official version will roll out to users via an OTA notification starting on September 13. Later on, the iOS 10 will come to the iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad mini 2 and later generations.
The company showed off a few of these apps, like Square Cash, at its WWDC developer conference back in June, and demonstrated how you could create sticker packs for iMessage without having to code. There are a lot of cool things on offer and we are pretty certain everyone is going to dig it once they get their hands on iOS 10. Let us know in the comments. And since stickers can be pasted on conversations and photos, you could also play dress up in some cases.
Users can then head to Settings General Software Update iOS 10 and then tap on the install now option. Before, you would need to use this trick to hide default apps, but now Apple is letting you get rid of the ones you don’t use, once and for all, without hassle.
Sketckes, heartbeats, fireballs and more have been added as emojis.
To prepare for tomorrow’s public release of iOS 10, Apple has launched the iMessage App Store, which is filled with games, stickers, and apps that can be used with Apple’s improved messaging experience.
