Trent Dilfer, on the other hand, had less sympathy, and it was when Dilfer was effectively calling Kaepernick selfish that Moss look daggers at him.

There might be a few ways to interpret Randy Moss’ expression toward Trent Dilfer on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown”, but there’s just no ignoring the intensity of Moss’ gaze. Dilfer pointed to Kaepernick’s role as a backup quarterback, and how his role is to be quiet, stay in the shadows, and get the starter ready for Week 1.
While speaking to reporters Monday, Kaepernick called the comments “ridiculous”.
Dilfer said he respects what Kaepernick is doing and the passion that he has for the protest on the issue, but says he does not respect the fact that Kaepernick put himself and his stance above his team. “To me, you’re telling me that my position as a backup quarterback and being quiet is more important than peoples” lives. “Just because he hasn’t experienced that type of oppression”.
However, the protests have also enraged sections of the population who feel that refusing to stand for the anthem in a typical manner before games is a sign of disrespect. “It has caused friction, and it’s torn at the fabric of the team”.
Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News asked Kaepernick about Dilfer’s remarks following Monday’s 28-0 welcome-back-to-Cali win over the Rams.
“Nothing has ever been done without criticism”, he added. Every great change, every great. whether it’s revolution or evolution of things. there’s always criticism of it.
