RG3 out at least 8 games due to shoulder

Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III was placed on the injured reserved list after breaking a bone in his shoulder, the team announced Monday, ensuring the former Baylor Heisman Trophy victor will miss at least eight games. Griffin could make it back to the field by early November after missing eight games, as the NFL’s new injured reserve policy does not require teams to identify IR-designated to return players until they are able to return to practice. RG3 will be re-evaluated in three to four weeks, at which point the Browns will decide whether or not to shut him down for the entire season after just one contest.

“It’s really unfortunate because Robert worked really hard to put himself to be in position to be our starting quarterback and to be one of the team leaders”, Coach Hue Jackson said on September 12. “Injuries occur and you have to find ways to overcome them so they don’t impede your progress”.

Wentz had 278 yards passing and two touchdowns in his National Football League debut, a tenacious defense left Griffin hurting and the Eagles beat the Browns 29-10 on Sunday. He struggled with accuracy and finished 12-of-26 passing for 190 yards with an interception and a passer rating of 55.

Wentz dazzled in his first game action in one month – he injured his ribs August 11 and missed the last three preseason games.

Meanwhile, the Redskins likely will face Josh McCown in Week 4. Yet he still was “surprised” that a defender was waiting to hit him along the sideline Sunday. “Kessler said. “. There’s things that I could have done and things that I can learn from moving forward to when I actually get live game reps, whenever that may be.

The almost constant turnover at quarterback has hindered the Browns from winning or developing any stability. “He is more than capable”.

“As good an athlete as Mychal is, it’s just unfortunate that we had to take one guy off”, Pederson said. He took a brutal hit along the sideline from Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills. A fourth-down pass by Griffin was incomplete.

Looking ahead to Week Two against the Ravens, McCown obliterated Baltimore for 457 yards on 36 of 51 passing and two touchdowns last season.

One knock against Reid during his tenure in Philadelphia was wasting timeouts because the play clock was winding down. “We’ll see more tomorrow and see how my shoulder is feeling and just move on from there”. Probably not, though. The Browns were always going to be bad, and now there’s one less variable – the off-chance that RGIII recaptured some of his “Know Your Why” form – stopping that necessity from becoming a reality.

The Browns will now have to turn to 37-year-old Josh McCown.

If the Ravens looked ahead to the Browns game before Sunday’s 13-7 Week 1 win over the Buffalo Bills at all, the scouting report would have suggested that the team was opening the season against consecutive mobile quarterbacks.

JETS: New York signed outside linebacker Victor Ochi and wide receiver Wendall Williams to the practice squad, and released running back Raheem Mostert and wide receiver Myles White. Just have to monitor it. “I was watching Robert (Griffin III) when he was out there, when he came off, sits next to (Associate Head Coach – Offense) Pep (Hamilton), go over what play, look at the defense, see this, see that”.
