Bono also said action was needed to stop the humanitarian disaster in northeastern Nigeria.
Salkida was declared wanted by the army on August 14 along with two other individuals – rights activists Ahmed Bolori and Aisha Wakil.
The Army or other security agencies are yet to confirm or deny his arrest.
Salkida was declared wanted last month by the Nigerian Army.
Spokesman for the Army, Colonel Sani Usman, said that the suspects, Salkida, (Ambassador) Ahmed Bolori and Aisha Wakil had information on the conditions and the exact location of these girls.
Mr. Salkida, who was in Dubai at the time of the announcement, said he would expedite preparation to return to Nigeria and turn himself in. The military also made concerted efforts to rescue them.
He added that during preliminary investigation, the suspect confirmed his photograph on the wanted list and further revealed that he specialized on rearing animals for the Boko Haram group.
Boko Haram has killed as many as 20,000 people since the launch of its insurgency in 2009.
