Google’s new phones may ditch the Nexus name

Other than the change of logos, HTC will also oversee a change in screen sizes when compared to last year’s models.

More details about the Google Nexus 2016 smartphones should be made available in the near future.

Unlike past year, the upcoming set of Google Nexus smartphones are not expected to arrive this September, though people can still reportedly look forward to these devices being announced pretty soon. For starters, Google broke its one device a year precedent by releasing both the 5X and 6P.

A new report claims Google will be dropping the Nexus brand off its upcoming flagship Android smartphones built by HTC that are now codenamed Marlin and Sailfish. The phones are said to have two-toned glass backs, with a metal frame for the Marlin, and a plastic body for the Sailfish.

What the next Google-branded phones will look like, according to Android Police.

The latest upgrade to the Android operating system includes a number of new features, like customizable homescreen widgets, split screen multitasking, expanded emojis and smarter battery usage via the Doze feature.

This would be a huge shift, given Nexus phones have always displayed Google’s vision for the Android OS, away from the skins served up by HTC and Samsung. The Nexus phones have been known to offer barebone Android experience, so this branding change would be in-line with that. They might be Google phones.

Everything seems great for Google. My predictions for the Nexus lineup are pretty simple: Google will become more aggressive in the mobile market, producing phones under its name rather than the “Nexus” product line, and this name change will happen this year! Now, they have the first unofficial render of Google’s new phone. Go to Settings About phone Build number (tap seven times.) Now return to the settings menu and here you will see that “Developer Option has been activated”. “There’s a lot of software innovation to be had”.

The company has also established a new hardware division under ex Motorola executive Rick Osterloh.

Google is also believed to be working on live wallpapers that bring additional functionality to the device.
