The Seahawks don’t open the regular season until Sept. 13, so there’s still plenty of time for Boyer to re-sign with Seattle, or catch on with another team.

The Seahawks are parting with the former Green Beret to make room for quarterback Jake Waters.
Unfortunately, however, Boyer was released by the Seahawks, as the organization needs the roster spot to replace an injured player, the team announced.

“That was cool”, Boyer said, via Seahawks.com.
“I was actually pretty emotional, just because I always think about my buddies who I fought with, or the ones who are overseas right now”, Boyer said. “I enjoyed it. You never know, this might be the only one I get”.
He gives Seattle three healthy quarterbacks along with Russell Wilson and R.J. Archer.
He was competing with incumbent Clint Gresham for the starting long snapper job.
With backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson suffering a high-ankle sprain in Seattle’s preseason opener against the Denver Broncos, the Seahawks needed an additional arm in training camp.
The team is expected to add former Kansas State quarterback Jake Waters to it’s 90-man offseason roster on Tuesday.
Waters was a two-year starter for the Wildcats, including a record-setting senior season.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder went undrafted this in the 2015 NFL Draft after his superb college football career with the Kansas State Wildcats, where he was a teammate of Seattle’s third-round pick Tyler Lockett.
