Minnesota Vikings Acquire Sam Bradford to Replace Teddy Bridgewater

Vikings tight ends coach Pat Shurmur was Bradford’s offensive coordinator with the Eagles last season and for two seasons (2009-2010) with the Rams.

Wentz has not played since suffering a hairline rib fracture in the team’s first preseason game, and Philadelphia’s coaching staff could choose to wait to start him until their Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

According to reports, Philadelphia Eagles fans should expect to see Carson Wentz starting Week One against the Cleveland Browns.

Bradford’s exit means second-string quarterback Chase Daniel will start the upcoming regular season as the Eagles’ starting quarterback.

Trading Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings might not be the only surprise the Philadelphia Eagles have at the quarterback position. If Bradford, who threw for 19 touchdown passes in 2015, can produce a similar season to his performance previous year, the Vikings will likely be in the mix to win their second consecutive NFC North title.

The Eagles’ now have a 1st round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft which will be here in Philadelphia in April.

“This was not part of the blueprint, but we have to take advantage of opportunities that are presented to us”, Eagles personnel boss Howie Roseman said.

The veteran also has a history with head coach Doug Pederson, who was Daniel’s offensive coordinator with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2013 through 2015.

Cowboys: Mark Sanchez will be Dallas’ backup quarterback to start the season, the team website announced.

Roseman said the two franchises have been talking in general – not about Bradford – for some time, so the conversations about Bradford didn’t appear out of thin air.

But even if Wentz isn’t the starter to begin the season, the trade on Saturday doesn’t happen unless the team is comfortable with his progress and his ability to play this season, even if he is just the backup.

The Vikings paid a steep price to add the Oklahoma product, who was scheduled to enter the year as the Eagles’ starting quarterback.

“The one thing that I will not do, and I promise you this, is put our organization in a situation where it’s going to inhibit us or hurt us going into the future”, Spielman told reporters Thursday.

“If there’s a good thing about learning a new offense every year, it’s that I’m familiar with this process and how it goes I guess”, Bradford said.

“Balancing today and the future, this was the right move for us”, he said.

“We go way back”. Apparently, the Vikings felt they needed to do something drastic to achieve success this season after losing quarterback Teddy Bridgewater for the entire season to a knee injury less than a week ago.
