MI jumps to No. 4 in AP Top 25 poll
The Longhorns held their current position 11th overall in the updated Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday.

Of course, had the Tigers lost to Troy or the Bulldogs to Nicholls, the fall in the rankings would have been a lot more catastrophic than that. Florida (23) and Arkansas (24) are the only new entrants to the poll. Sep. Clemson have dropped three places to number 5, Alabama maintain their number one position, while Florida State, Ohio State and MI each move up one spot.
Clemson, which had been second, dropped to fifth.
Ohio State remains the top Big Ten team in the poll, moving from No. 4 to No. 3.
The teams ranked in the top 25 last week went a combined 21-2 on Friday and Saturday. FSU picked up a first-place vote this week after having a much easier time with FCS contender Charleston Southern. The Cowboys were three-touchdown favorites against Central Michigan.

The big dropper this week was slow-starting Clemson, which fell from No. 2 to No. 5 in the AP poll behind Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State and MI. While its offensive sputters were excused in its Week 1 19-13 victory at Auburn, they were on greater display Saturday when Troy, a 4-8 team a year ago, pushed the Tigers to the limit. Arkansas haven’t been ranked for nearly a year, but their impressive wins to start the season have been enough to get them noticed. The American Conference had one (Houston), while technically independent Notre Dame rounded out the top 25. You can see the full coaches poll below, under this week’s AP poll.
