It offered its smartphones, accessories and other devices to the customers.

The news comes as Xiaomi reports lower-than-expected revenue results for the last financial quarters. But fanboys had been spreading rumours that we can see a new smartphone launch as well.

Battery optimisation has also improved. While perhaps not as drastic of an update as some users were hoping for, there are a number of useful features to get to grips with. I’d imagine this was already part of previous MIUI builds, but perhaps there’s a new governor, although details are a little thin right now. For any smartphone, that is a massive improvement. Among these features is an “Interactive Visual Response” instead of voice response, which can be used for banking, booking air tickets and for some transactions at “more from 50 Indian partners including Citibank, ICICI bank, Spicejet, Indigo, Tata Sky, HeroMotoCorp, and more”, Xiaomi said. XXL will work with Hindi text messages as well, and even in your other apps.

MIUI 7 also now aligns CPU wake-ups from various apps to take place at once, rather than at their own discretion.

There is a school of thought that the MIUI looks very similar to Apple’s iOS interface, but there really isn’t much truth in that fact, except possibly the way the icons are laid out on the home screen and the generous use of white colour in many apps.

The big highlight of the new MIUI 7 interface is the enhanced customization options that come with the skin. There is also a data saver that is coming with the MIUI 7. Using this feature, you will be put in global roaming mode during worldwide travels, and will be allowed to select apps that you want to run on data. And if you have important documents and emails in the phone, there is a genuine risk of something getting deleted by accident. MIUI 7 also appears to feature a new CPU acceleration feature, which boosts CPU speeds for important tasks. Android phones from Samsung and HTC have had this feature for a while now. Huawei Technologies, the company’s largest competitor, is reported to have more than doubled its revenue in China.
