Deshaun Watson apologizes to fans for ‘negative energy’

Watson says tha appreciation “just kind of got away from me for a little bit with all the attention that I’ve gotten”. I apologize to (the media) and the fans. Herbstreit went on to predict that Clemson (2-0, 0-0 ACC) would win the national championship this season. “No one wanting to talk to me”. Against Troy, Lawrence had seven tackles once again and assisted on six different tackles. He’s completed 52.9 percent of his passes, down from last year’s 67.8, and his touchdown-to-interception ratio is now 4-to-3. I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this.

“I think any time that you’re a top player like Deshaun…their bar is set very, very high, and when you’re not reaching that bar then you’re very disappointed”.

Watson has never been the most vocal leader on the team – choosing to mostly let his play on the field do the talking. More is expected from the quarterback position, and Watson set a new standard a year ago when he became the first FBS player to ever throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 1,000.

“I’m not Superman. I’m not a superhero”.

Coming off of the bench in the first game and getting his first start in Clemson’s game against Troy, Lawrence has played like a man possessed in his first two collegiate games, serving as a constant threat in the Auburn backfield during the first game and making multiple big tackles against Troy. On Monday, Deshaun called Saturday’s matchup “probably [his] worst game” of his 22 starts. We could easily be 1-1 or 0-2, but we’re 2-0.

“Just got to live in the moment, embrace the moment and enjoy”.

“We’ve got to get back to basics and playing Clemson football”, he said.

So far, though, No. 5 Clemson has been an offensive mishmash of overthrown balls, dropped passes and line breakdowns in too-close-for-comfort wins over Auburn (19-13) in the season opener and Troy (30-24) on Saturday – a far cry from the “super offense ” they were expected to have this season. “It took a long time to put a smile on my face and over the course of my lifetime with my experience on and off the field, it’s just a blessing and I’m happy to be here”.
