It is worth noting that Apple has never revealed the RAM capacity of its iPhone smartphones either, including the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Instead, the company has gotten rid of the headphone jack – a bold move certainly – but one that’s not almost as big a deal as many have made it out to be.

It’s not clear whether Apple faced some technical hurdles getting this technology intothe new phones, or whether it was an issue with cost. While the initial expectations of the device were quite subdued given that it looks similar to the iPhone 6, which debuted two years ago, there have been multiple recent developments that indicate that Apple may have underestimated initial demand for device.

The move comes as the company’s new product line has seen mildly positive reception amid challenges for competitors. Instead, the new phones will use Apple’s Lightning connector for audio, although users will be able to connect older headphones and earbuds via an adaptor. Both phones have also ditched the headphone jack.

Is this a big deal?

“A lot of people talk about the headphone jack, but I was researching it and you can connect it to the Lightening port”, Ibanev said. The first is that if you have your headphones plugged into your Lightning port, you can not use that port to charge your phone.

The 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus both feature a faster A10 fusion processor, a force-sensitive Home button, an improved 12-megapixel camera (twin cameras with “telephoto” or wide-angle lens on the Plus) and 7MP Facetime HD camera on front, iOS 10, Touch ID, Apple Pay, 4K video recording at 30 fps and Multi-Touch display with IPS technology. Well, the reality of the situation is likely a bit more involved than that. The price for these starts at Rs 15,400 and they come bundled with a charging-cum-storage case. Over time, however, we have become used to not having disks, CD, or DVDs and the idea of including one in a computer seems as out of date as buying a VHS player.

Just because Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has decided not to brag about preorders or launch weekend sales anymore doesn’t mean that other companies won’t. They’re gaining a little bit more space in the phone for Apple to cram other technology in at the expense of a jack that no longer serves a goal.
