Patriots acquire DB Rowe from Eagles
With Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) sidelined for the New England Patriots’ opener on Sunday night at the Arizona Cardinals, the likelihood grew for a big (fantasy football) game from fellow tight end Martellus Bennett.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the move, and it was later confirmed by Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
Originally, offensive lineman Josh Kline was to be included in the deal, but Kline was removed and, on Wednesday, released by New England.
“There is some validity to that”, Pederson said about giving up to soon. The pick, we now know, is a fourth rounder so it looks like it could be a good trade for everyone. “We just felt not only is it a great opportunity for him, but for some of our young players who were playing well during camp to play”.
Rowe, a second-round pick in the 2015 draft, played in all 16 games as a rookie last season (including five starts), and can play either cornerback or safety. That won’t disappoint too many fans as yet another component from what was the Chip Kelly era in Philadelphia has been erased from the roster and, quite possibly, eventually the memory of Eagles fans. He racked up 31 tackles and one interception last season.
Kline signed with the Patriots in 2013 after a stellar career with the Flashes, notching multiple starts in all four years of his college career. That pick can become a third-round pick if Rowe meets certain requirements.
Despite being 6-foot-1 and hard to throw over top of him, Rowe never seemed to refine the techniques the Eagles expected from him.

Either way, the Eagles got something for a player that they may have been on the verge of cutting, and that isn’t a bad thing. “This is such a can you win now mentality and you’re always constantly shifting and moving your roster around”. “And then with the guys that we have, and then bringing back C.J”. Considering Howie Roseman’s aggressiveness as a trader, it’s actually surprising the Eagles haven’t made more moves. A recent article from CSNPhilly points out the Eagles cost to trade up for Carson Wentz looks a lot less costly after the Bradford deal. “Unfortunately he was on the back end of that”.
