The 49ers shutout the Rams 28-0 at Levi’s Stadium.

Shaun Draughn also ran for a score and Blaine Gabbert threw a touchdown pass to Vance McDonald to help the 49ers win their first game under coach Chip Kelly in convincing fashion.

The matchup, which will serve as the Rams’ opener in Los Angeles, will take place Sunday, Sept. 18 at 4:05 PM on FOX.

In a game where it seemed like the story of the night would be who did and who didn’t stand for the national anthem, it was a drunk fan who made the biggest headline. It’s a two- man game with us when we run the read option.

Gabbert’s passing wasn’t a bright spot (22-of-35, 170 yards, one touchdown), but it wasn’t as ghastly as that of his counterpart.

NaVorro Bowman and Ray-Ray Armstrong each intercepted Keenum, while Ahmad Brooks and Arik Armstead got the only sacks amid constant pressure from a revitalized defensive front. Under Keenum, the Rams went 3-for-15 on third down and punted on 10 of their 13 possessions. He was pulling it in, he was getting yards. Gabbert, however, had a clean sheet with no interceptions, fumbles or sacks. Oh, they got him, they’re coming from the left – oh and they tackle him at the 40-yard line!

The second came in the fourth quarter, halting one of the Rams’ best drives of the night.

This obviously didn’t last for long as No. 1 running back Carlos Hyde finished with 88 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns, but Gabbert’s ability to scramble opened up the run in the first quarter, allowing him to pick up three straight first downs with his feet.

It marked the low point of the night for the Rams, who gained 185 yards on 60 plays.
