Cops: Teacher left gun in bathroom, elementary kids found it
Cumberland Valley Christian School president Mike Sanders said the teacher, identified by state police as Beth Dixon, 63, had a permit to carry but took the gun out when she went to the restroom and forgot about it.

Dixon has been charged with crimes including reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children.
Beth Jean Dixon, 63, put her holstered pistol on a toilet tank when she used the unisex, one-toilet bathroom August 25 at Cumberland Christian School, in Chambersburg, police said. The last child to use the bathroom and see the gun told his parent, “who informed another teacher, at which point Dixon remembered leaving the pistol in the restroom”, police said in the release. One of them told a parent about the gun. They say she forgot about it and left. She then called a school administrator, told him of her mistake, and resigned, Stahl said.
Sanders said the school has now implemented a gun policy that states that no guns are allowed unless approved by the administration. He was heartened to learn the children’s parents had talked to them about never touching a weapon and telling an adult if they ever find one.
“This could have been tragic”, Sanders said.
