Hip-hop collective Dungeon Family reuniting at festival

Last night, just a little under two years since the last time they shared a stage together, Big Boi and André 3000 were back at it again for the One Music Festival in Atlanta.

Another highlight came when Andre 3000’s ex-girlfriend Erykah Badu joined him for a rendition of Liberation, and Goodie Mob’s Cee Lo Green also thrilled the crowd with a rendition of his Gnarls Barkley hit insane. More than 20 group members are set to take the stage Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, for the first time in 10 years at the seventh annual ONE Musicfest in Atlanta.

Representatives for the rap/funk duo quickly shot down the reports, stating, “There is no Outkast news to report”.

The documentary features OutKast, Goodie Mob, Future, LaFace Records” LA Reid and more discussing the importance of the production trio to the rise of the south in the “90s and features footage from the early days of The Dungeon Family. Outkast performed “So Fresh, So Clean”, and Goodie Mob did “Cell Therapy”.

Every member of the crew was in attendance except for Khujo of Goodie Mob, who was sorely missed, but the team more than made up for it.

Producer Rico Wade of Organized Noize said he envisions a festival that will mirror Lollapalooza and Coachella.

Outkast’s unannounced appearance wasn’t a complete surprise, as the event promised that the “entire” Dungeon Family would be present at the Lakewood Amphitheatre. “Our fan base is so eclectic”.

Netflix documentary The Art Of Organized Noize sparked the idea for the family reunion after being a huge success with viewers. The Dungeon Familys reunion performance at an upcoming music festival sparked a new initiative for the legendary hip-hop music collective: Create music for a concert.

Big Boi said getting everyone on the same page was tough initially.

“It was like getting nine cooks in the Waffle House trying to fry an egg”, he said. “When we started rehearsing, it all came together”.
