CM Punk earned $500,000 (£375,000) for his long-awaited but short-lived UFC debut.

Punk trained for two years prior to stepping into the Octagon against Gall, but he was outclassed by the more experienced fighter.
And while it was Gall’s ideal win streak that extended, it was Punk’s bank balance that earned the much more significant boost as the disclosed purses from UFC 203 emerged on Monday.
He took full advantage of the opportunity.
The fight, part of the UFC 203 event in OH, lasted just over two minutes.
The odds were always against Punk having success in UFC, dating back to when he signed with the company in December 2014.
“Mickey Gall’s way better”. He’s a rookie in Dana White’s world but has the potential to a title contender down the road.
“When he didn’t shake my hand and he was giving me that hard look I said “you’re an actor, you’re still acting”, Gall said after UFC 203 was finished.
You might recall the match opened with Ziggler ducking a wild punch from Miz and then Ziggler took Miz down and hit some ground-and-pound fists. But when it came to Punk, McGregor stated that the former pro wrestler was cut from a different cloth. Punk tapped within the first three minutes and lost in his UFC debut. Punk even gave a great post-fight speech in the cage with Joe Rogan. He left the Octagon with a loss, as WWE surely noticed. He wanted to go in the UFC and try to complete a dream he’s had for a long time.
The highest earner for UFC 203 (not including PPV dividends which aren’t disclosed publicly) was Alistair Overeem.
Punk, who is now 0-1 in his professional career, gave his young opponent some advice after the fight, as Gall felt like he shouldn’t be on the main card, seeing that UFC veterans Uriah Faber and Jimmie Rivera were in the undercard, while Punk and himself were on the main card. Unfortunately, Punk may have to start from the beginning.
