Who was the worst National Football League player in Week 1 — FTW

Defensively, it was a stubborn failure to adapt as Steelers star receiver Antonio Brown repeatedly torched Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland.

“The call came from the sideline”.

“We’re not afraid to take shots”, Roethlisberger said. “It was awesome. We got the ball back and were able to convert”.

The Steelers went 2-for-2 on fourth down conversions on the night.

Trailing early in the second quarter on Monday night and his team well within field goal range, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin could have opted for a field goal that would have cut Washington’s lead in half.

Now, before the game, I said that the Redskins needed to contain Antonio Brown. “But they got the run game going and took a couple of shots and we were just off balance”.

Cousins completed 30 of 43 passes for 329 yards and two interceptions.

Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden spoke about the team’s relationship with the military.

DeSean Jackson had six catches for 102 yards for Washington (0-1).

Defensive Line: The defensive line couldn’t get to Washington quarterback, Kirk Cousins, for any sacks. He had five catches for just 31 yards, but three went for first downs on three different touchdown drives.

Roethlisberger threw for three touchdowns, including two to Brown in a dominant offensive display. But it’s hard to say any play was bigger than that. Cousins threw two interceptions in each game. Williams came back with a 6-yard touchdown run four minutes later on the next drive.

Washington’s Dustin Hopkins kicked his third field goal of the game to make it 24-9. That wasn’t the only time Roethlisberger made something happen when nothing was there. They ultimately concluded there were no indications of a concussion that would require Newton to be removed from the game.

Williams, who is the starter as LeVeon Bell serves a three-game suspension, got the job done.

The second quarter became a tale of fourth-down success and failure that ended with Pittsburgh ahead 14-6.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in an National Football League win over the Washington Redskins. Kerrigan tried to pick it up, lost it and the Steelers retained possession on their 13 and drove down for their first score.

Monday’s 38-16 loss to the Steelers at FedEx Field did little to ease concerns about the Redskins’ ability to run the ball on offense and stop the run on defense.

A few plays later, Rogers caught his first career TD pass in spectacular fashion.

“It just shows the confidence (Roethlisberger) has in me”.

NOTES: LB Ryan Shazier was being evaluated on Tuesday for a knee issue that Shazier tried to downplay after the victory. Could you imagine the outcome had they had their missing players?

That’s what Ben Roethlisberger did. Cousins threw for more than 300 yards, but on 42 attempts. However, on fourth-and-6, safety Robert Golden stopped Thompson inches short after a reception at the Steelers’ 33 to thwart that threat.
