Clinton, Trump fight escalates on national security
The Democratic former secretary of state meanwhile met in NY with a bipartisan panel of experts to discuss issues of terrorism and national security that the next president will likely face.

Trump’s interview surfaced as he and Clinton continue to clash over foreign policy in the run-up to the November 8 election.
Trump was the star at a Washington gathering of grassroots activists, conservative stalwart lawmakers, and leaders in the anti-abortion and religious freedom movements.
The former Secretary of State said Trump’s “ignorance” about Russian Federation and Putin are “dangerous”. Virginia likely is key to Republican hopes to muster 270 electoral votes.
Trump then attacked President Barack Obama and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Obama’s first secretary of state, for their roles in the USA troop withdrawal from Iraq.
Clinton has recently reached out to Republicans wary of Trump. That is the threat to the people of the United States and to its allies.
“He believes President Obama was born here”.
Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway quickly responded on Twitter, writing, “One day after promising to be aspirational & uplifting, Hillary insults millions of Americans”.
Trump noted that Schlafly rooted for the underdog, and “the idea that so-called little people, or the little person that she loved so much, could beat the system – often times, the rigged system”.
James Woolsey, who has been sharply critical of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy, says he agrees with Trump’s call to spend more on the military.
Trump concluded his brief remarks speaking to Schlafly, saying, “we will never, ever let you down”.
Mike Pence said Saturday at the Values Voters Summit in Washington that Clinton’s comments should be “denounced in the strongest possible terms”.
Trump also blasted Clinton for a second straight day as a “trigger-happy” top diplomat who emboldened North Korea into conducting yet another nuclear test and put Iran on the path to atomic weapons. “We will be prepared to introduce legislation as quickly as we can do so”, Clinton said.
As is always the case with Trump, however, the lines between the personal and the political are blurry. “A new chapter is beginning, and this chapter will be authored by you, the American people”. She touted the bipartisan nature of the meeting and vowed to work across the aisle as president to tackle national security challenges.
At a rally on Friday before thousands of cheering supporters in Pensacola, Florida, Trump had more harsh words for the Democratic presidential nominee in the fallout over their crossfire at a televised national security forum in NY on Wednesday.
Clinton called the North Korea test “outrageous and unacceptable”, saying she supports imposing additional USA and United Nations sanctions.
Clinton and her campaign have been feeling pressure over the past week as Trump and Pence bounce back in the polls – the latest slip coming as Clinton left the 9/11 memorial ceremony Sunday abruptly and early.

Those of you who figure you’ll be voting for Donald Trump most likely love his tough-talk ways, huge action-figure promises – and his unrelenting attacks on Hillary and Bill Clinton for what he calls their “pay-to-play” politics and practices. He said Clinton will be back on the campaign trail by the middle of the week. “Why won’t Trump release his tax returns and what is he hiding?” it asked in a statement, suggesting that Trump fears showing that he is worth less than he claims, that he has paid no income tax in years, and that he is deeply in debt.
