Colin Kaepernick Pledges $1 Million To Underserved Communities

His 49ers teammate and former LSU safety Eric Reid knelt beside Kaepernick.

None of the Raiders’ players sat during the national anthem before Thursday’s game, but Seattle cornerback Jeremy Lane did.

“We were talking to him about how can we get the message back on track and not take away from the military, not take away from pride in our country but keep the focus on what the issues really are”. Join the many men and women who demonstrate their love and loyalty to this country by doing, not protesting against a fellow citizen who is expressing his rights.

“I don’t think we’d have a player like him, frankly, I think he’d be booed out or the owners would be forced to not accept someone like him”, he said.

“It shows that he hears the people that were hurt by him sitting, but he still believes in the cause that he wants to bring awareness to”. He likely won’t be standing for the national anthem, but there’s nearly no chance he’ll be wearing his pig socks. “So before those socks, which were worn before I took my public stance, are used to distract from the real issues, I wanted to address this immediately”, he said Thursday.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick again refused Thursday night to stand for the playing of the national anthem – and this time, he wasn’t alone. “I have to help these communities”, he said.

Kaepernick rebutted by letting people know that he was not taking a stand against the military, but rather he was standing up for African-Americans and other minorities to give them a voice and platform that otherwise could not be reached.

The juxtaposition of Kaepernick’s protest against racism and the Chargers’ 28th annual Salute to the Military, which is traditionally held during the final home exhibition game, provided a juicy story line.

Bill Johnson of the National Association of Police Organizations said Kaepernick’s socks dishonored his officers. When asked if there was any greater intent to his decision, Lane said it was more a matter of supporting Kaepernick than anything else. “Our team has been working at it and we’ve been in the process of communicating about a lot of stuff right now”.
