“The recent spike is a result of more people coming to do blood or urine tests after the outbreak in Latin American countries”, he said, noting that the increase over the last two months was mainly because of the rainy season, a time when mosquitoes are more active.

Utah health officials on Tuesday said they have been unable to determine how the son of an elderly Salt Lake County man sickened by the Zika virus also contracted the virus. Utah doesn’t have the kind of mosquitoes that transmit Zika, and the two people involved did not have sexual contact.
