Kaepernick has the right to protest peacefully under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Veterans were also showing their support for his right to protest via #VeteransForKaepernick on Twitter. “So I’m using it in a respectful manner”, said Jones.
A statement from the Chiefs players after the game said: “It was our goal to be unified as a team and to be respectful of everyone’s opinions, and the remembrance of 9/11”.
