Here’s how Tom Brady spent his first Sunday without football
The young quarterback lead the team to a 23-21 win in Sunday night’s game, his first National Football League start.

Knocking off a talented Arizona Cardinals squad without Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski boosted the assessment of the New England Patriots in the national spotlight, and that boost reflected itself in ESPN’s new NFL power rankings, released on Tuesday morning.
So one game into the season, the Patriots have sole possession of first place in the AFC East – and the next time they play on the road Tom Brady will be in their traveling party (at Cleveland Oct. 9 following home games with the Dolphins, Houston and the Bills).
“I spent a little time working out and obviously watched a lot of football”, Brady told Jim Gray of Westwood One (via Fox Sports).
“I watched that one channel, that Red Zone channel, that captures everything”, he said. You see a lot of situations. It was great to see the offense get off to a great start with a great first drive. “I thought it was a great night for him and our whole offense”.
Asked if he was personally angry, helpless or nervous, Brady said it was none of those things, as he was interested in what the Patriots were doing and how adjustments were made. “You don’t get those things when you’re playing”, Brady said on the program. “It was fun to sit on the couch and see a lot of those games from a different perspect [sic]”. “Pretty unbelievable. There’s a lot to learn every week in the NFL”. A lot of great plays from Jimmy and the skill players.
Brady, who will return October 23 against the Steelers in Week 5, was in the unfamiliar position of watching Week 1 action rather than playing in it.
Presented a game ball following the win, perhaps Garoppolo should show his gratitude by FedExing it to the guy who’s given him his shot, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

“It’s fun to watch them and support them, and even if I’m not out there, I’m with them in spirit and I’m just hoping and cheering like all those Patriots fan that we win every game we play”, he said.
