Five observations from Ravens’ Week 1 win over Bills
Overall, the Bills had just 160 yards of total offense. LeSean McCoy has been a workhorse rushing and receiving but so far the Bills have not moved the ball at all. Look for many passes to go to the tight end’s direction.

Taylor, a former Virginia Tech standout, became an All-Pro quarterback with the Bills.
Heading into the stadium the Ravens fans were pretty optimistic, I guess that’s not much of a surprise considering it was opening day and they were playing a team that’s had zero success for the past 16 years. The defense has given up 114 total yards in the first half but only 3 points.
QUOTABLE: Someone asked Harbaugh to describe Flacco’s stature in the pocket coming off a serious injury: “Joe is as tough as a $2 steak”. Then the team is back to “0-0” heading into the game against the Browns.
2nd Quarter- The Bills found their offense. For analyst Matt Sabuda, the play calling and ineffective performance by quarterback Tyrod Taylor were surprisingly similar to the poor efforts that have been so common in recent years for the Bills. Running back LeSean McCoy scored Buffalo’s only points of the game on a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The Bills had a few plays that showed what they are capable of. Duke Williams was beat on the play. Despite an uninspiring first 55 minutes, he still had a chance to pull it out after the defense held the Ravens to a field goal, leaving the Bills behind, 13-7, with 5:30 to play.
The pass defense was impressive, but Baltimore was also impenetrable against the run, allowing only 65 yards on 24 carries. The Bills trail by 3 at halftime 10-7. The entire Bills’ offense came out slow and never seemed to kick it into second gear. The Ravens have the home field advantage today. Thus, Dan Carpenter had to try a 49-yard field goal, and he missed wide right.
The early games include: Tampa Bay at Atlanta, Minnesota at Tennessee, Cleveland at Philadelphia, Cincinnati at New York Jets, Oakland at New Orleans, San Diego at Kansas City, Buffalo at Baltimore, Chicago at Houston and Green Bay at Jacksonville.
“(Ronald) Darby had that (interception) in his hands that could have really changed the game. Several times the Bills had to burn timeouts at inopportune moments because their offense wasn’t ready as the playclock almost expired. The Bills held the Ravens to 83 yards on the ground. He rushed three times for minus-4 yards against the Ravens. Sadly, this was a game the Bills could have easily won and you can’t help but feel like this one might come back to haunt them at some point this season.
“There’s some penalties I can’t live with like on the field goal”. “I was in position to make tackles, and we emphasized that, making tackles on [Buffalo running LeSean] McCoy and being able to get those guys down and eliminate big plays”.

The Bills have now lost five straight road games going back to a year ago. “It was all about, ‘Don’t let Tyrod Taylor make an explosive play”.
