Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto took the stage earlier today to reveal the news, demonstating a live gameplay session of the upcoming smart device game, developed by Nintendo and DeNA.

The character, Mario, in “Super Mario Run” is an automatic runner.

Three modes of play will be available at the start. A longer press causes Mario to jump higher.

That notification feature also appears to be new, as some users are noting on Twitter.

The game will release “Holiday 2016”.

Developing story, more to come. “After the launch of Super Mario Run in December, Nintendo plans to deliver its previously announced mobile device titles in the Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem series before the end of March, 2017″. Miyamoto-san also announced that the game is completely playable with one hand, as Mario automatically runs to the right and players just control Mario’s jumps and other actions.

It’s unknown how much the game will cost, although at the conference, Miyamoto said the game will be available for a “set price”.

Super Mario is finally coming to the iPhone. However the iTunes page does read: “Includes in-app purchases”. The second mode challenges players to compete with other players to impress Toads. “We could not be more honoured that Nintendo chose to bring Mario to iOS first”, added Cook.
