‘Super Mario Run’ forced Nintendo’s other mobile games out of 2016
It’s a breakthrough for Apple and a major change in strategy for Nintendo, which has largely kept its top characters away from smartphones. Apple’s chief executive Tim Cook shared stage along with Shigeru Miyamoto at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco to announce this upcoming game. The Super Mario Run gameplay is rather simple, Mario keeps on running and you have to tap and Mario jumps. The game will be one cost, and not pay-to-play, although price will come later.

Super Mario Run also comes with a battle mode called Toad Rally. Super Mario Run will launch first on the Apple iOS App Store this December and at a later date for Android users. Players need to navigate challenging course while collecting coins on the first mode.
If the game isn’t enough for Nintendo fans on iOS, Mario-themed stickers will be coming to iMessage with the update to iOS 10.
Nintendo has since confirmed to Kotaku that yes, Super Mario Run will eventually find its way onto Android. Finally, a third mode will let players create their own Mushroom Kingdom using the Coins they’ve collected in the other two modes. However, according to the App Store, there will still be in-app purchases.
In each level of Super Mario Run, Mario will run across the screen automatically, and players will be able to tap to jump.
We’ve known for a while now that Nintendo was expanding into the mobile space, but besides the social app Miitomo we hadn’t seen the game company make any significant moves to that effect.
