Arkansas slays No. 15 TCU in double overtime

FORT WORTH, Texas – Austin Allen ran 5 yards for the winning score in the second overtime, and Arkansas pulled out a wild victory over No. 15 TCU on Saturday night.

Allen was voted SEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Skipper was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week Monday by the SEC Office in Birmingham, Ala.

Arkansas quickly drove down the field and tied the game at 28, and after a TCU game-winning field goal attempt was blocked, the game went to overtime. Then the former Aggie Kenny Hill and the Horned Frogs scored 21 unanswered points to begin the fourth quarter and scored a two point conversion to make it 28-20.

After Allen led a TD drive, Bielema dialed up the standard double-reverse pass two-point conversion pass from Drew Morgan to Keon Hatcher back to Allen.

Arkansas will take on the Texas State Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in hopes of retaining their spot under the microscope in the top 25.

“We felt really good about certain guys”, Bielema said. “It’s quite an honor, especially in this league”. “I think that was a big point of emphasis, and I think they’re very proud of themselves – and they should be”.

When a certain player or play goes well, sometimes fans like to take credit for predicting success before it happened. “I thought he played big at the biggest moments, which was huge for our team”. Knight also rushed for a game-high 78 yards on seven carries in just over one half of play.

Receiver Drew Morgan said that the word – and the exact execution – of the play changes almost every week.

For many, Arkansas seems to be good for at least one upset nearly every year, but as a program has not been able to go from playing teams tough to consistently winning at a high level. The run defense was actually very good aside from an 87 yard run that skewed the stats.

Success in a play runs deeper than just the players who touch the ball; every position in football matters on every play. We know we have to get a lot better at what we’re doing to be able to play like we need to.

TCU finally got on the board after its first drive of the second half.

Arkansas quarterback Austin Allen (8) throws a pass in the first half of an NCAA college football game against TCU on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, in Fort Worth, Texas. Senior tight end Sprinkle of White Hall, whose fourth-down touchdown catch from Allen edged Louisiana Tech, 21-20 in the September 3 at Fayetteville, caught three passes for 58 yards against TCU including a 19-yard touchdown from Allen in the first overtime. Arkansas linebacker Brooks Ellis delivered the big change in momentum with a 47-yard interception return of Hill in the second quarter.

“I don’t want this state to turn our stadium expansion into a stadium debate”, Long said.

For defensive honorable mention Bielema mentioned defensive backs Jared Collins, Ryan Pulley and Santos Ramirez and defensive tackle Jeremiah Ledbetter. They barely made it out alive against Louisiana Tech and don’t have the running game they’ve had in past seasons. “You’ve got to be ready in the trenches”.

Hill made a gesture with his right hand, bringing it from his left shoulder near his throat and down across his chest, after scoring to put TCU ahead late in last week’s game against Arkansas.

A TCU spokesman then told the American-Statesman that the gesture meant “Rise of Kings” in sign language and that Hill and a friend came up with the salute before the season. “I believe they are second in the country”.
