Donald Trump to appear on ‘The Dr. Oz Show’

Donald Trump said he had a physical last week – “I feel great”, he told Fox News Channel.

Both candidates have been pressed to release more information on their health, as is traditional if not mandatory – like the release of tax returns, a step not yet taken by Trump – for presidential candidates. Clinton, 68, would be the second oldest, after Ronald Reagan. Last month, her campaign released a letter from her doctor calling her health “excellent”. In 2014, he appeared before a U.S. Senate subcommittee to defend his promotion of certain weight-loss pills. Trump’s appearance on Thursday will be pre-taped.

In an interview with NBC news after the hearings, he defended his program by saying it “is not a medical show”. Oz won’t be conducting a medical exam but will be reviewing the results of a physical with Trump, he said.

“I think it makes sense for both to have a conversation about it [their health], and I’m not trying to pry or probe, I’m just trying to hear what’s going on in both their lives”, he said.

“I hope she gets well soon”. “We have to see what’s wrong”.

Oz said Tuesday pneumonia could have caused the cough Clinton has battled on the campaign trail recently. Responding to questioning, he said some of the products he promotes on his show do not have “scientific muster to present as fact”. “I find the whole challenge to be very invigorating”.

The television special will apparently serve in lieu of Trump’s promises to release his full medical records to the public – an issue that grew amid his increasing criticism of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as unhealthy and unfit for the presidency and suspicion of the exuberant tone of a hastily-written note from Trump’s doctor.
