Obama recently returned from 10 days overseas in Asia and will attend a United Nations meeting next week, leaving him just six weeks of full-throttle campaigning for Clinton.

The public and most in her campaign were kept in the dark.

In Washington, Trump’s vice presidential running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, used Clinton’s comment to try to build more unity among Republicans, appearing at a news conference with Paul Ryan, the speaker of the House of Representatives, the top US elected Republican.

“I believe there has never been a man or a woman more qualified to serve as our president”, Obama said.

Trump has attempted to portray Clinton as lacking sufficient stamina to serve as president, despite her reputation as one of the most travelled secretaries of state and presidential candidates in U.S. history. “They have got 40 years of my tax returns, tens of thousands of e-mails, a detailed medical letter report, all kinds of personal details”, she said.

“Guys in the back, I’m just telling you the truth about how I feel about this”, Obama said, giving the media a heads up before he excoriated them.

Barack Obama is campaigning hard against Donald Trump. She will resume campaign travel on Thursday, he said.

But he seemed most energized when criticizing Trump.

But the incident follows a long pattern, with Clinton paying a price, both physically and politically.

The almost eight-hour gap between when Clinton was first reported to have stumbled and when her campaign disclosed her pneumonia has revived questions about her penchant for secrecy. Her physician, Dr. Lisa Bardack, said in 2013 that testing showed “complete resolution” of the concussion’s effects. He complains about her health.

After months of questioning Clinton’s stamina, GOP rival Donald Trump has delivered a measured response on the issue.

That infuriates Clinton’s friends and former aides, who cite dozens of stories about her simply refusing to take a sick day. “I should have gotten some rest sooner. but like most people, I thought I could go on”, she said.

Tanden recalled a time when Clinton, then a NY senator, refused to cancel a public service announcement she was scheduled to tape with Sesame Street even though she was sick.

Clinton has not campaigned since Sunday, after she left a September 11 memorial service after her campaign said she became overheated and dehydrated.

Obama reserved part of his speech to “vent” about the media, arguing news organizations have treated Clinton unfairly and applied what he described as a false equivalence when covering the campaigns’ troubles.

“I felt so badly”. “But she was like, ‘It’s fine”.
