US Open: Wozniacki tight-lipped on retirement
Wozniacki has surprised plenty with her advancement so deep into the final grand slam of the year but in saying that, the draw has opened up very nicely for her and the first real challenge she faced was Madison Keys in the fourth round. Obviously, I think, it’s sad she’s only played eight tournaments from this time a year ago.

“In the end, the head does a lot”, she added. Wozniacki has reached the final twice to go along with two other semifinal appearances; she’s been to the semis only once at the other three Grand Slams combined.
She is bidding for a third final, following defeats in 2009 and 2014.
“For sure it was affecting my play, but I’m not a person that likes to retire during a match so I just tried my best”, Sevastova said.
“I kept serving well and made her run”, Wozniacki said.
The remaining four last-16 matches take place on Monday when world number one and six-time victor Serena Williams tackles Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan. “I’m pleased with how I managed to keep composed”.
The U.S. Open has featured stability at the top with Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber, but what about everyone else?
“I do not know if Caroline will only play the rest of the season or if she will play another one”, her father Piotr told Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet, according to the Post’s report.
Her opponent is Caroline Wozniacki, a popular Dane who was once is a similar position among Women’s Tennis Association rankings.
In a powerful demonstration of her title credentials, 28-year-old Kerber then wrapped up the second set of her quarter-final by allowing Vinci just five points on her serve.
Wozniacki continued her resurgence with a commanding 6-3 6-1 win over Romania’s Monica Niculescu. “Today was a tough match and I was tight in the end and right now I’m in the quarterfinals and a year ago the final, so what do I have to say?”
In contrast, Kerber has appeared in two of the three Slam finals, her success in Melbourne followed by a loss to Serena Williams in the Wimbledon final.
“Well, obviously right now I’m a little disappointed not to win, but at the end of the day it’s been a good tournament, something I can be proud of”, she said. Throughout 2016 before entering NY, her best showing of the season was in her opening tournament of the year, Auckland, where she reached the last four.

On Tuesday night, Caroline Wozniacki cruised into the US Open semifinals over a hindered Anastasija Sevastova, 6-0, 6-2. Doesn’t matter if tennis, football, being a lawyer, whatever it is. Her 6-0, 6-2 quarterfinal triumph against Anastasija Sevastova was her most dominant win yet. Wozniacki also was a finalist in NY in 2009, losing to Kim Clijsters. “She looks fit, so it’s going to be a tough one”, said Wozniacki.
