Champions League: City, Moenchengladbach clash postponed

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Oscar Wendt has admitted that he is “disappointed” with the decision to postpone his side’s Champions League tie with Manchester City this evening. The idea is going into every game wanting to play out from the back and we did that [at Old Trafford].

Although the stadium was largely empty at the time, with most City fans having decided against entering, a number of Monchengladbach supporters, who had taken their positions, booed a public announcement.

“It is important that we get off to the best possible start”, added Guardiola. TV schedule and live stream information are available on Live Soccer TV.

Prior to last season, City had never gone beyond the Champions League last 16, but in an unexpected flourish under outgoing manager Manuel Pellegrini, they made it to the semi-finals.

The post Champions League: Man City, Gladbach to meet on Wednesday appeared first on Punch Newspapers. In a group which includes favourites Barcelona, City are keen to get off to a good start: “They are a courageous team, [with a] fearless coach – one of the best teams in Europe”, he said.

City have conceded four goals in the league, including in their 2-1 derby win over Manchester United, but have scored 11.

“But it is not enough to win the Premier League or achieve the big, big targets in the Champions League”. I will try but the history is the history.

Sterling said: “I got a lot of criticism previous year which I thought was a bit unfair. I think it’s always a disadvantage when you have to stay one day longer than everything is planned”. We did good things and not so good things. “To compete against the best clubs in Europe, in this moment with the way we are playing, we are not able to”, he told a news conference. They’re still waiting on the fitness of youngsters Marvin Schulz and Mamadou Doucouré, while long-term absentees Álvaro Domínguez and Josip Drmić have been omitted from the Champions League squad entirely.

City’s impressive start to the season has come without input from their inspirational captain Vincent Kompany because of injury. The Gunners lost their opening game against Liverpool, and then only managed a draw against Leicester.

PSG seem to still be finding their feet after the departure of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who moved on to Manchester United in the summer.

PSG have reached the quarter-finals each of the past four seasons, but their inability to advance beyond that stage ultimately cost Laurent Blanc his job, with Unai Emery appointed in his place.

“For the players we are not even thinking about Pep’s return, we are focused on Celtic.

He was the leader, the captain, a charismatic carrier of the ambition of the club and it’s always hard to measure, when you lose a player of that stature, how big the damage is”.
