Sandi Jackson’s attorney could not immediately be reached for comment. It was not clear where she went after leaving the prison camp. Generally speaking, federal prisoners may be placed in a halfway house or put on home detention toward the end of their terms.
She failed to report about $600,000 of the income for several years ending in 2011, court records show. She must serve one year of supervised release and perform 200 hours of community service.
Jesse Jackson Jr. served 22-months and is now on parole. That was true in Jackson Jr.’s case.
Jackson previously represented the city’s South Side 7th Ward until 2013, when she resigned before she and her husband pleaded guilty to the felony charges. He left Congress that June, and his staff eventually confirmed he took a medical leave for treatment of bipolar disorder and other issues. His 30-month term was cut for completing a substance abuse program in prison and good conduct.
She pleaded guilty in 2013 to lying on her income-tax returns as part of a scheme she and her husband hatched to drain $750,000 from their campaign funds for personal use between 2005 and 2012.
She declined interview requests while incarcerated.

The Jackson reside in Washington, D.C. A judge allowed the Jacksons’ to stagger their sentences so one parent could remain with their son and daughter.
