Met office issue yellow warning for torrential and thundery rain this afternoon
We are being warned that there could be local flooding and disruption as torrential downpours pound the Duchy.

“Northern England and South East Scotland are now judged the most likely area to see scattered thundery downpours but even here many places will have no more than light rain”.
Thundery conditions are forecast for Warwickshire this Friday, as the Met Office moves to issue a weather warning for the region.
The heavy rain caused flooding and disruption to many Teesside roads, with Saltburn and Redcar being severely affected by it.
“Whilst most places will miss the worst, there is also a risk of large hail, frequent lightning and strong winds”.
However, there is a low chance that the middle of October could see some more settled conditions. Thousands of Britons were out to enjoy the sun in the south-east and the hashtag “heatwave” was trending across the United Kingdom throughout the day. Despite the record-breaking day, weather experts have said that the warm temperatures are not unusual for this time of year.

The Met Office chief forecaster said: “A fairly cloudy start to the day, though cloud soon breaking to leave a dry, warm and humid day with good sunny spells”.
