Manchester United and Chelsea accused of ‘failing’ Radamel Falcao by Monaco’s vice-president

Vice-president of AS Monaco, Vadim Vasilyev has blamed Manchester United and Chelsea for Radamel Falcao’s miserable time in England.

“This is what we will do and what Manchester United and Chelsea didn’t do, failed to do or didn’t want to do”, said Vasilyev. Seventy goals in barely 90 matches in the Spanish capital made him one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards, but instead of moving to a genuine heavyweight, the money-laden Monaco project attracted him.

But in better news for the Old Trafford faithful, Nicky Butt says in the Daily Express that the club’s academy have the talent to produce another ‘Class of 92’.

Injuries have since troubled the striker, but Vasilyev said his club had the patience needed to Colombia’s all-time leading scorer finds his form again.

There’s no doubting the motivation Falcao had to be successful in England as he scored a few goals here and there for United and Chelsea, but perhaps his game just wasn’t suited to the fast and direct pace of English football.

Falcao, having suffered a serious knee injury in 2014, lost his way during two hard years in the English football on loan at Manchester United and Chelsea.

And the blame for his decline has been laid directly at the feet of United and Chelsea, who, according to Vasilyev, were not patient enough with Falcao.

“He is the same Falcao as ever”.

Falcao has endured a nightmare time over the past couple of seasons with injury and the lack of form has seen the once feared striker somewhat slip off the radar.

Falcao scored an incredible 70 goals in two seasons for Atletico Madrid to earn his move to Monaco in 2013.

“If you sign a player of this magnitude after a big injury it takes time and games to get him back into shape”, he added.

‘The fact he only played 25 minutes means he could feature and, if he does, we’ll see how he evolves during the game. “Monaco will make every effort and you will see a very different Falcao this season to the one you saw in England”.
