Eagles, fans need patience with Wentz: Weinberg
It has been quite a whirlwind of a week for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz.

“Everybody feels like this kid is ready to go and we drafted him to take on the reins and it’s something now we are prepared to do”. By trading so much capital for the second pick in the Draft, Philadelphia entrusted its future in the hands of Wentz – even if most anticipated that he wouldn’t see the field in 2016.
Now that Bradford is on his way to Minnesota, all eyes in Philadelphia turn to who will end up starting for the Eagles under center when the season begins a week from Sunday.
Jackson is believed to have wanted Jared Goff but once it became clear that the Los Angeles Rams would take the Cal product at No. 1 overall, Cleveland shifted gears and moved down, picking up three picks from the Eagles in this year’s draft, along with a first-rounder in 2017 and their second-rounder in 2018. After the Bradford trade, there was word that Wentz would be the starter as soon as he was healthy. Carson is just an ordinary guy – who happens to be able to throw a pigskin really well – but whenever he can, he devotes his time to getting outdoors.
Against that backdrop, Pederson – who previously spoke of sitting Wentz this season to allow the former North Dakota State star to grow and develop – outlined the decision to play Wentz after all, saying “it’s something that we believe in”.
“That’s just the type of person, the type of quarterback we have”, Pederson said. I’ll just take them in stride.
When talking about the offensive game plan, Pederson said he didn’t want to “reinvent the wheel”, and wants to continue to use the same plays the team has been using all camp.
Pederson also stated that the team plans to start Lane Johnson at right tackle, and that the National Football League has not notified the organization of a suspension.
“I’m walking in at like 5:45 this morning and he’s already in the film room”, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said.
Shortly after Wentz was drafted, the Eagles made it seem like the young quarterback would spend his rookie season on the bench behind Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel. Wentz doesn’t want to let the game get too big for him. Sure. But right now, where we are, we’ve got a good football team around him …
“We’ll see who gets exhausted first, ” he said. We can’t go out there and tell Carson to win this game.
“It was nearly like a relief, a weight, a burden off your shoulders”, Pederson said this week. Despite not playing much during the preseason, the Inquirer’s Jeff McLane says the team has been very impressed with Wentz.
Ironically, back in 1999, Pederson was that stopgap quarterback that Daniel could have been this season. “But he’s the ultimate team player”.

Griffin didn’t get on the field at all a year ago, Kirk Cousins keeping the job, and was released when Washington was unable to trade him. Wednesday was the first full practice with Wentz as the No. 1 quarterback. “I’m just ready to attack it and do my best”. The Browns need a consistent running game, which was lacking last season, to keep Schwartz honest.
