Arsenal boss Wenger happy with PSG point but sees red over card

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has hit out at Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Verratti after the two saw red in their clubs’ opening UEFA Champions League clash.

The shot-stopper made numerous saves as the English side earned a 1-1 draw in the Champions League on Tuesday.

But if Wenger’s selection was meant to put PSG off then maybe it was a genius move because they really should have punished us but failed to do so and let us get back into the game and rescue a point with a fine Sanchez strike.

Cavani headed PSG in front within a minute of the game’s beginning, but PSG paid for his profligacy in failing to add to its advantage. His first goal is attractive, it’s a shame he does not score after.

Nevertheless, it hasn’t been a great start to life as an Arsenal player for the German worldwide since his switch from Valencia ahead of the summer transfer deadline. I don’t know how Verratti fell over a second time. “I block off Verratti, he throws himself on the floor and I do not understand it. Marquinhos shoves me from behind and I do not know how Verratti falls over again the second time, it escalates the entire thing”.

“We knew this would be a tough match with so many great players on the pitch”, the keeper said. I was honestly surprised by his behaviour. The ref didn’t even see what’s happened. I think the first yellow card [for Giroud] was very harsh already, it wasn’t a foul.

PSG’s lead was cancelled out with 12 minutes to go when Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez rifled a low drive into the corner, helping the Gunners salvage a point and a much valued away goal. The second, he tells me he has done nothing at all and Olivier is honest so I believe him.
