Prior to Julia, Florida was struck with Hurricane Hermine in late August into the beginning of September and also felt the affects of Tropical Storm Colin in June.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Ian continues to chug through open central Atlantic waters and remains no land threat.
By Thursday there will be an area of low pressure in southeastern Georgia. Its maximum sustained winds were near 40 miles per hour (64 kph). Isolated totals of 10 inches are possible, as is an isolated tornado across coastal Georgia and southern SC, the hurricane center said.
Can tropical systems influence the spread of the Zika virus?
Tropical Storm Julia dumped heavy rains along coastal Georgia and SC on Wednesday, weakening as it drifted north along the U.S. Southeast coast, the National Hurricane Center said.
As of 10 p.m. CDT, the center of Tropical Storm Julia was located about five miles west of Jacksonville, Fla., and was moving north-northwest at 9 mph.
The projected path now has the storm moving inland and moving rapidly into a tropical depression through the day Wednesday, Burns said.
“The short-term forecast for gusty winds and heavy rainfall hasn’t really changed, it’s just that they upped the chances of tropical cyclone development of the system”, said Melbourne-based NWS meteorologist Jerry Combs.
A storm system called Invest 93 is already producing tropical storm conditions off the coast of Daytona Beach.
To keep up with storm activity as the season develops, bookmark the National Hurricane Center’s website and keep an eye on your hometown Patch site for local information. Lower rainfall amounts are forecast inland through Wednesday, however the Weather Service said some isolated areas may see up to 10 inches of rain. Further thunderstorms and rain may continue in Florida throughout the weekend, but at a lessened rate.
