49ers that good or Rams that bad?
The 49ers beat the Rams, 28-0.

If the Rams thought they could float their way through their first season back in L.A. atop a magic carpet ride of sentimentality, reality delivered a vicious right cross. “They did a very nice job”.
There’s a delicious amount of schadenfreude across St. Louis following the Los Angeles Rams’ disastrous performance on Monday Night Football. Seattle has established a reputation for having one of the league’s top defenses over the last couple of seasons, and there’s a good chance this squad is going to cause all sorts of problems for Los Angeles on offense.
Colin Kaepernick, backup quarterback for the 49ers, has sat or knelt during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial oppression in the United States. An 11-yard dash from Carlos Hyde and another 3-yard scramble from running back Shaun Draughn were enough to send the Red and Gold to the locker room with a 14-0 lead at the half.
Todd Gurley also struggled to start his second season campaign on a strong note, being limited to only 47 yards at a 2.8 average yards per carry with no touchdowns. In his defense, the offensive line was atrocious last night as well.
Quotable: “People counted us out before the season even started”. Rams rookie quarterback Jared Goff, the first overall pick in the 2016 draft, wasn’t able to crack the starting lineup and was in street clothes for the final game of NFL’s first week of action. In an earlier contest Monday, Ben Roethlisberger threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns and the Pittsburgh Steelers stomped the host Washington Redskins 38-16.
Roethlisberger completed 27 of 37 passes for 300 yards, including two touchdowns to All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown and another to Eli Rogers.
The game averaged a 7.1 rating among households in Nielsen’s metered markets, a 25 percent drop from the second game past year, which took a 9.5 overnight rating, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “We hold ourselves to a high expectation”.
“I (told him), ‘You can run is just as good as I can run it, so don’t be afraid to pull it and go make a play, ‘” Hyde recalled the conversation. Apparently, in the scrum that ensued, Donald made contact with an official, securing him a ticket out of the game. Often playing on the opposite side from Josh Norman and tormenting cornerback Bashaud Breeland, Brown made eight catches for 126 yards.
He’s essentially keeping the seat warm for Goff, but after looking overwhelmed while throwing for 130 yards and two interceptions on 17-of-35 passing for a putrid 34.2 quarterback rating, his leash just got a whole lot shorter.

Conversely the Redskins were zero-for-two on fourth down and just three-for-10 on third downs.
