Jamie Vardy reveals why it was an ‘easy decision’ to reject Arsenal

Jamie Vardy claims he found it an “easy decision” to reject Arsenal, insisting both his head and his heart were set on staying with Leicester City.

“I was in a hotel room for many hours of every day with nothing to do”.

“When I first arrived for the squad, the manager told me a little story of when I was at Fleetwood and their manager was trying to get him to sign me at West Ham”, said Vardy. “It doesn’t matter how you play, the most important thing is to get the points when it’s needed”. You never know what will happen.

“It was the biggest decision of my professional life – not that I’ve been a professional that long – and it was a nice compliment”.

Vardy was an unused substitute as England defeated Slovakia 1-0 in Trnava on Sunday with an injury-time Adam Lallana goal, as the Sam Allardyce era began with a victory. “Yeah, I can’t leave my house”, he said.

But it is reported that he, along with Sanchez, want increased wages and a buy-out clause to be included as a part of their contractual agreement.

“I have to admit that in the first few days there was an undeniable nervousness”, Xhaka told Swiss newspaper Appenzeller Zeitung. It was just a simple “Hello, are you OK”. that kind of thing. It is understood the 27-year-old is close to getting a deal which will go as high as £200,000-a-week, a deal similar to what Alexis Sanchez is holding out for.

“Those meetings were either side of me making the decision: it was basically in every hotel we were staying in”.

“I wanted to focus at this time only on the national team”. I think he was doing French TV for the Euros.

Vardy is now preparing for England and new manager Sam Allardyce’s first match in a World Cup qualifier away to Slovakia on Sunday evening (UK time).

Look, we’re not professional footballers and we don’t have to come up with profound musings at the drop of a dictaphone, so let’s cut Vardy some slack here. Because actually the team is really good, the quality is unbelievable.
