The Israeli army said none of its aircraft had been downed overnight on Monday, as claimed by Syria, and it carried out fresh strikes against Syrian artillery positions on Tuesday night.

Lavrov said Russian Federation had been in contact with Syrian and Israeli officials, as well as officials in other regional countries. “Nothing true about what they claim”, Shalicar said.

Despite his forces being part of the truce, President Assad vowed to take back the country from “terrorists” – a term used to describe all opposition groups.

Last week, Israeli warplanes struck Syrian artillery positions after a shell hit the Israeli side of the Golan Heights.

Meanwhile, Syria claimed its forces have shot down two Israeli aircraft near Golan Heights after they violated the worldwide border.

The Israeli military was not immediately able to comment.

This was the fifth time errant projectiles stemming from the fighting in the Syrian Civil War has landed in Israeli territory over the past 10 days.

Israel seized 1,200 square kilometres (460 square miles) of the Golan Heights from Syria in the Six-Day War of 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognised by the worldwide community.

Later on Tuesday, the Israeli military said three other “projectiles” fired from Syria hit the Golan Heights in two separate strikes, causing no injuries.

During the past year, the Syrian army fired Russian-made SA-5 surface-to-air missile at Israeli aircraft, which failed to hit its target.
