Chargers activate Joey Bosa, send Keenan Allen to IR

Keenan Allen has suffered a torn ACL in a huge blow to the San Diego Chargers in the NFL. Allen left the game with an injured knee in the first half and Peters did improve, but he was consistently beaten off the line of scrimmage and could not keep up with San Diego’s top target.

While he was bumped by the Chiefs defender, the injury was essentially non-contact and he was carted off the field, clearly distraught and with his hand over his face.

We can all remember moments, either from a game we played or one we watched, but those are lifetime memories precisely because they are so rare. However, Allen simply was in too much pain to do that. Cornerbacks Steven Nelson and Phillip Gaines also struggled to find any success early on, before shutting down the Chargers in the second half.

Allen, 24, already has over 2,500 yards through 37 games in his National Football League career.

I think everyone was looking forward to Keenan Allen having a great bounce back year after missing half of last season. In order to do that, they’re going to have to avoid losses to teams like the San Diego Chargers.

As Smith pointed out in his article, the Chargers could choose to designate Allen as the player they return from IR, but head coach Mike McCoy has confirmed the injury is season-ending.

Allen, 24, signed a four-year extension in the offseason, and hopefully he’ll come back strong next season.

Kansas City trailed 21-3 at halftime and then 24-3 after six minutes of the third quarter. But his play Sunday may have been an indication he is going nowhere, even if the Chiefs’ biggest star gets back on the field next week. Not a single lineman earned a negative grade in pass protection per PFF, and Laurent Duvarney-Tardiff who hasn’t given up a sack or hit since week eight of last season, led the group with a 79.4 grade, and a positive run blocking grade.

A potential option for the San Diego Chargers is to bring James Jones back into the mix. “Instincts took over. I was fortunate enough to be on the receiving end”. After spending many years with the Atlanta Falcons, he was finally given his release from the team.

Depending on his health, Marques Colston could be an option as well. Then the Giants emphasized the run to use most of the clock, quite a contrast to last season when questionable clock management contributed to six losses late in regulation or in overtime in a 6-10 season.

The Chargers were leading 27-10 when Josh Lambo missed a 54-yard field goal, and the momentum swung toward Kansas City. Dontrelle Inman is the Chargers’ other most likely in-house candidate. With Houston out and Hali not fully healthy, Kansas City needed more pressure from their interior lineman to prevent the quarterback step up.

After talking about his ability on the offensive end, they continue, “Favors only began flashing high-level ball skills on a consistent basis over the past two years”. The Jayhawks have to avoid the kind of blitzes that was put on them by OH on Saturday and the schedule only gets tougher from here, including a road game at Memphis this week.
