Woody and Dory Meet as Tom Hanks Appears on “The Ellen Show”

“I need my hat, you said you had my hat!”, Hanks demanded, giving the host the ideal opportunity to reply with a classic Dory comeback: “Who are you?”

The performance was completely impromptu.

The bit came about when Hanks started asking Ellen if fans ever confuse her with Dory.

Later in the conversation, Tom and Ellen lament over the less-than glamorous aspects of lending their voices to such beloved characters. They then tried it as an exercise with their audience, making them cover their eyes and running through an improvised sketch about Dory helping Woody find his hat.

Unfortunately, Ellen’s crew was not able to make the screen go black for this epic crossover (something about viewers not liking a black screen), but close your eyes for the full effect. “It’s harder work than people think it is”, the talk show host explained.

Woody is clenched all the time.

Hanks can be seen the new film Sully (no relation to the Pixar monster) out this weekend while Finding Dory will arrive on Blu-ray November 15th.

“Toy Story 4”, directed by John Lasseter and Josh Cooley, comes to theaters in 2018. (Bold proclamation. We know.) It’s always nice when Hanks does a promo blitz, because he’s just loads of fun when he pops up on the chat show circuit.
