Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept – luxury SUV for Paris
Mitsubishi is taking the wraps off the 2016 Paris Motor Show concept vehicle it first teased way back in June. The “high-end next-generation SUV” showcases MMC’s latest design language as well as the company’s own plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) system using triple motors. That’s more than twice the electric range of today’s Outlander PHEV. Featuring MMC’s latest design language together with MMC’s advanced and proprietary electric and all-wheel control technologies, the MITSUBISHI GT-PHEV Concept empowers drivers to pilot their vehicle with confidence under a wide range of driving conditions. It does that by both reading the road ahead and predicting the surfaces and conditions on the route, then adjusting the drivetrain accordingly.

On the design front, Mitsubishi says that the PHEV-GT expresses “Functional Beauty, Augmented Possibility, Sculptured Dynamism [and] Japanese Craftsmanship”. We’ll leave you to decipher the meaning of those words and that grammar.
The front visage with its forceful presence employs MMC’s Dynamic Shield front design concept that portrays the front end’s function of protecting both people and the auto.
Inside, the GT PHEV concept is trimmed in burgundy leather, to match the colour of the car’s roof.
Under the skin is Mitsubishi’s triple-motor PHEV system, featuring a next-generation battery pack, three electric motors and a traditional petrol engine. The concept has an all-electric driving range of 75 miles [120 km] and a combined hybrid range of over 746 miles [1,200 km].

It’s also connected to the cloud, allowing the auto to find route information such as weather and road conditions, as well as pick it up locally using a series of sensors and cameras on the vehicle.
