New iOS Update Crashing iPhones

The latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system which powers the iPhone and iPad, iOS 10, has suffered issues during its launch. Connecting it to the computer brings up another error window that says, “There is a problem with the iPhone “iPhone” that requires it to be updated or restored”. However, some users have still been reporting problems, including iTunes not recognising their devices. Anyone who was affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for help.

The company has been touting iOS 10 as the biggest iOS release ever, with key features including enhanced visual-communications features for Messages, new ways to use Siri with apps, more places to use 3D Touch, and redesigned Maps, Photos, Apple Music and News apps. It’s also advisable to err on the side of caution and update to iOS 10 via iTunes or to simply wait a day. Just installed for the first time now.

iOS 10 is compatible with iPhone 7, 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, iPhone 6, 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5.

Apple said in a statement to Recode that it has identified and fixed a bug that caused people to experience problems when updating to iOS 10.

To update your iPhone over-the-air, navigate to Settings General Software Update.

Ensure you have a solid wifi connection and that your iPhone or iPad is either on charge, or has more than 50 per cent battery remaining.

The new software will also come built in to the new iPhone 7, which along with the larger 7 Plus will go on sale in the United Kingdom on Friday after being announced in San Francisco last week.
