Trump grabs lead from Clinton in Ohio

The pollsters already had Clinton’s nine-percentage point lead on Trump at the start of August narrowed to near parity before her dizzy spell Sunday (which also followed on from her misfiring critique of Trump’s supporters as a “basket of deplorables”).

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are running neck-and-neck in a four-way matchup including third-party candidates, according to a national poll released Wednesday.

Trump is also widening his leads in Republican states like Texas, Utah and SC, according to the latest surveys.

The thought is prompted by the CNN/ORC poll showing Clinton trailing Donald Trump in four-candidate pairings by a 45 percent to 43 percent margin.

The poll found that likely voters are R+4.. Libertarian Gary Johnson dropped to 13 percent in the new poll, and Evan McMullin, a newcomer to the race, was at 9 percent.

“I’m hoping it’s just a little bump in the road”, Mike Blisko of Levittown said of Mrs Clinton’s recent woes. Yet Trump has caught up to her level of support in several states. “You can not run for president if you have such contempt in your heart for the American voter”, Trump said. She’s staying at her home in NY while her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and daughter, Chelsea Clinton, appear on the trail in her place. Where Mrs. Clinton had maintained a lead with the 18-34 demographic, Donald Trump now owns a 4-point lead while maintaining his hold on the older demographics. “That’s no mean feat as clouds of distrust loom over both campaigns”.

Trump is favored by 46 percent of likely voters in OH and Clinton is backed by 41 percent.

But fifteen years since the tragedy, as the nation’s focus shifts to the topic of national security, this survey looks further into how voters specifically measure that preparedness – and there are big differences in what voters are looking for. The problem is that Hillary can win without New Hampshire and Nevada, thanks to a built-in Democratic advantage in the Electoral College, while Republicans cannot afford to lose a single state they won in 2012. Trump leads by 21 points in the Greater Wichita area, which includes Sedgwick and 63 surrounding counties.

Mrs Clinton, 68, who in the 1990s said she believes in “a zone of privacy”, has at times demonstrated a politically self-defeating tendency toward secrecy.

Despite what looks like a shakeup, Pennsylvania’s presidential politics might not be so up in the air in the unconventional election where both candidates face high unfavorability ratings and some voters have struggled to make a decision.

Romney got 93 percent GOP support in 2012 and still lost by nearly 4 points nationally.

Also over the weekend, Donald Trump Jr. shared an image on social media depicting a racist meme.

“When we saw the distribution of party ID, we certainly looked deeper and noted, coincidentally, that the distribution looks more like the exit polls from the 2004 presidential election in OH than the 2008 and 2012 elections”.

For the first time this election cycle, voters actually support the nominee they plan to vote for. “He’s conquered the Republican primary candidates and now he’s trying to fuel this anger to go after Hillary”, said Mark Daniels, who flew from Springfield, Illinois to see Mr Obama in Philadelphia.
