The Good, Bad + Ugly Twitter Reactions of the iOS 10 Launch

Pre-orders for the newest iteration of the iPhone began last Friday and while, for once, Apple didn’t puff its chest out over how many iPhone 7 orders came in during the first weekend, that didn’t stop others from crowing about the newest must-have Apple gadget.

Or, at least it was until iOS 10 starting bricking some iPhones that tried to download the update over the air via Wi-Fi. Apple announced the release date of iOS 10 at its recent launch event along with the Apple Watch Series 2 and the iPhone 7.

In a statement sent to multiple outlets including Buzzfeed, Apple says the issue has been “quickly resolved” and impacted a small number of users. Here is a look at the biggest changes from the software update. According to numerous reports and social media users, plugging into iTunes became necessary to complete the operating system upgrade process. Deleting system apps will free up space and improve your phone’s performance while getting rid of things you don’t want or won’t use.

You can also now scan a message before you send it to see if any emoji can replace words.

Also new to the messages app is the ability to send background fireworks and confetti to further punctuate your points, send individual read receipts (for peak pettiness) and send finger-written responses. There’s also a Memories tab that continually creates editable albums and movies of adventures from your photo library you might have forgotten. Siri can access six different types of apps: Ride booking, messaging, photo search, payments, VoIP calling and workouts. Although we’ll have to wait to see how useful these features are, they’re a step toward making the virtual voice assistant smarter. The app will add more visual options such as stickers and animations so text messages will look more lively.

It’s release day for all Apple users among us!

iOS 10, the latest update to that mini-computer in your pocket you call a phone, launched yesterday morning and was immediately met with a hellstorm of people complaining that the update “bricked” their device.

There is a problem with the iPhone “iPhone” that requires it to be updated or restored. Apple announced numerous features in June. Apple has since confirmed to Digital Trends that the flaw is fixed and downloads should continue without a hitch. Early partners include Fandango (you can ask Siri to order you movie tickets) and Lyft (it can hail you a car/taxi).
