Chevy Bolt EV Range Beats Tesla Model 3
The federally tested range of 238 miles per charge is enough to travel from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on a single charge. Notably, this represents about 23 more miles of range than what Tesla’s entry level Model 3 is expected to deliver when it begins shipping late next year. The government agency has rated the Bolt EV to go 238 miles on a single charge, showing that GM’s earlier estimates were conservative-perhaps on objective. According to Chevy’s website, the Bolt’s 60 kWh battery will take about 9 hours to fully charge with a 240-volt charger. However, the Bolt will be sold in select dealerships only, meaning you might not be able to buy it at the nearest Chevrolet showroom.

While pricing is not final, Chevy says the Bolt is expected to start around $37,500, bringing the final cost to $30,000 for buyers who qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit.
The Tesla Model 3 base model hasn’t had the capacity of its battery pack confirmed yet, but it has confirmed that it “achieves 345km of range per charge”.
To help maximize the Bolt’s range, it’s made from lightweight materials such as aluminum, magnesium and carbon fiber. This means the company already has high demand, and all that the electric vehicle company has to do is to produce more cars to fill in higher demand. On the luxury side, Tesla’s Model S is being targeted by a number of experienced automotive companies, including Audi, Porsche and Mercedes. A vast majority of them don’t think that the Bolt EV will come out good, especially with Tesla Motors running the EV show.
Many plug-in electric cars can go 80 to 100 miles on a single charge.

Chevrolet’s Bolt now claims the crown for the longest trip possible for an electric vehicle on a single charge. Tesla recently increased the boosted the range of the most expensive Model S, called the P100D Ludicrous version, to 315 miles.
