Family Research Council President Tony Perkinstold LifeNews that “Phyllis Schlafly will be remembered for her courageous leadership in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds”. Her most recent prior books were “How the Republican Party Became Pro-Life” and the 50th anniversary edition of “A Choice Not An Echo”.
Her book, Conscience of a Conservative, written in 1960 and originally self-published, sold 3 million copies and gave support to Sen.
She graduated from college at 19, while working at a factory during World War II, and later earned master’s and law degrees. Her focus from her earliest days until her final ones was protecting the family, which she understood as the building block of life.
She later called defeat of the ERA her greatest political achievement.
Over her lifetime she authored 27 books and thousands of articles, according to the Eagle Forum.
It was known as the Equal Rights Amendment, and had been relatively uncontroversial – until Schlafly stepped in. Phyllis Schlafly has spent much of her life and the majority of her foray into politics speaking out about liberalism and, more specifically, feminists. “Funeral arrangements are pending”. Our prayers and condolences go out to the Schlafly family and the entire right-to-life movement for the loss of this good and faithful servant.
Although she was a powerful woman in her own right, Schlafy drew upon her staunch opposition to women’s lib by suggesting that females not complain about their roles in society as wives and housekeepers.
“Few others could hope to match her tenacity, wit and devotion to the conservative movement”.
Boasting some 80,000 members, the Eagle Forum is a right-wing think tank created “to enable conservative and pro-family men and women to participate in the process of self-government and public-policy-making”. “The” godmother the conservative movement” and “sweetheart of the silent majority”, Schlafly was instrumental in launching and shaping the modern day conservative movement.
Today, Phyllis Schlafly died like she lived – with dignity and a smile.
Schlafly first made her name in the 1960s, as a public supporter of Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater.
For years, these two formidable women were sure to draw the largest crowds and the most enthusiastic responses from audiences at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.

Her gay son defended his mother’s activism saying: “Family values people” are ‘not out to bash gays’. She and her husband had six children, and she wasn’t at home all the time taking care of them yet she demonized women who wanted a career.
