Christian Eriksen signs new deal with Tottenham

Eriksen had been in negotiations with Spurs since September last year, and has now agreed a four-year deal worth about £75,000 per week to stay at White Hart Lane.

“Last season was tough for Son and we had to make the decision, in or out”, Pochettino said.

Both Alli and last season’s top scorer Kane shook off their Euro 2016 hangover during an excellent second half showing, with the latter finding the net for the first time for club and country since Spurs’ 2-2 draw against Chelsea on May 2.

“One thing is to believe and another is to deliver and win games, it was hard and then it was the draw against West Brom at home”. Eriksen picked up two vital assists that night and they were two of 13 assists in the Premier League last season.

“We felt very disappointed, then it was Chelsea”.

Shay Given could make his 450th Premier League appearance in this match, becoming just the fourth goalkeeper to reach this milestone after David James (572), Mark Schwarzer (514) and Brad Friedel (450).

Several reports have suggested Manchester United, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid had also registered their interest but Schoots says he is very happy in England.

“And for me it is very good because you can stop asking me when Harry Kane will start to score again”.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino hailed an “almost perfect” performance as his side ran riot 4-0 away to Stoke City on Saturday.

“I was happy before and then after we added three players in the last three days, we have a squad that can compete in the different competitions”. We’ve bought some great players in who have fitted in perfectly.

“That said tomorrow is more about us because we’re still looking for our first win and it’s important that we get that as soon as we can”.

“When momentum shifts and the game is getting a little bit pressurised, in terms of going against you, we’ve got to recognise those moments in the game and adjust our play accordingly”, he said. We will rotate the squad and every player will have the chance to show his quality.
