Canada’s Chernove cycles to gold in Rio
Lynch missed out on a medal at London 2012 [Image: Getty]COLIN LYNCH has secured Ireland’s fourth medal of the Paralympic Games in Rio with silver in the C2 Road Time Trial. “Usually [athletes] bite the medal, and now we want them to make this movement”, Olympics design manager Dalcacio Reis told Public Radio International, while shaking the medals. Out of the four, India has two gold, one silver and one bronze medals which is by far the country’s best show at Paralympic history. India could manage only two medals from the Rio Games.

The medals have the text “Rio 2016 Paralympic Games” written on them in Braille. Previously, he had won gold at the 2004 Athens Paralympics with a throw of 62.15 metres with which he set a world record.
This brand-new noisemaking function was developed for visually impaired athletes who can’t see color differences in medals. Back in 1984 Games, India had won four nedals.

Mariyappan Thangavelu had won gold in the Men’s High Jump T42 category on Friday with fellow Indian Varun Bhati taking bronze at the same event. Silver medals have 20 balls while gold medals have 28 balls, generating the loudest noise.
