“At this time our department asks for everyone to keep Officer Brackeen’s family and the entire department in their thoughts and prayers”, the chief said.

Officer Tim Brackeen was shot shortly after midnight Saturday.

Throughout the afternoon and evening, neighbors placed flowers on the vehicle to pay their respects.

Hamrick said she knew officer Brackeen, who helped her get out of an abusive relationship and would often check on her well-being. Previously, he was wanted for armed robbery and kidnapping. His charges were expected to be upgraded after the officer’s death.

“Search is still on”. ‘But God can. This is a deep valley for us, but even in the valley, God is good’.

This is an on-going story, and we will update as we new information is received.

Fenner was also convicted of assault of a Shelby Police Department law enforcement animal in July 2009, which was disposed of in August 2009. An additional $15,000 was added to the reward consisting of donations from various individuals, CrimeStoppers, City of Shelby, and county government. The 13-year veteran died from his injuries just days later as officials continued searching for the suspect. The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation into the shooting.

The officer has been with the Shelby Police Department since July 2004 and is now assigned as a K-9 Officer for the department.

A GoFundMe page was set up for Brackeen.

The officer leaves behind wife Mikel, 39, and daughter Daphne.
